[2026-07-23] [Official Statement] Shincheonji Church of Jesus's Position on Assemblyman Song Young-gil's False Remarks Regarding "110,000 Shincheonji Members Joining the Party and Interfering in the Primary”

[2026-07-23] [Official Statement] Shincheonji Church of Jesus's Position on Assemblyman Song Young-gil's False Remarks Regarding "110,000 Shincheonji Members Joining the Party and Interfering in the Primary” Shincheonji Church of Jesus hereby clearly states that the remarks made by Democratic Party of Korea Assemblyman Song Young-gil during the New Media Grand Debate on the 21st, and subsequently reported by the press, claiming that "110,000 Shincheonji members joined during the 2021 People Power Party presidential primary," are entirely false. The claim that this denomination collectively enrolled 110,000 responsible party members into the People Power Party in 2021, or that votes were concentrated on a specific candidate under the Chairman's instruction, is a clear falsehood with absolutely no objective basis. This denomination has not interfered in the People Power Party's presidential candidate primary, nor has it issued any such instruction. We expre...

[2026-07-16] Rebuttal Statement in Response to the Statement Issued by Citizens’ Solidarity for the Protection of Gwacheon

[2026-07-16] Rebuttal Statement in Response to the Statement Issued by Citizens’ Solidarity for the Protection of Gwacheon Respected citizens, Gwacheon Church of Shincheonji Church of Jesus is issuing this statement to correct the factual inaccuracies contained in the statement released by the Citizens' Solidarity for Protection of Gwacheon on 7 July. The Citizens’ Solidarity for Protection of Gwacheon issued a statement calling for the denial of Shincheonji Gwacheon Church’s application to change the use of the facility to a religious facility, citing Gwacheon’s unique urban structure, student safety, and the inconveniences caused by large gatherings. Their assertions regarding “resident safety” and “protection of the educational environment” amount to unilateral claims that infringe upon constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights and seek to stigmatize a particular religion to drive it out of the local community. While we deeply understand parents’ concerns regarding safet...

Statement from Shincheonji Church of Jesus on the Court's Dismissal of Chairman Lee Man-hee's Request for Review of the Legality of Detention

[Statement from Shincheonji Church of Jesus on the Court's Dismissal of Chairman Lee Man-hee's Request for Review of the Legality of Detention] Shincheonji Church of Jesus expresses deep regret over the court's decision on 28 June to dismiss Chairman Lee Man-hee's request for a review of the legality of his detention , which had been filed on the grounds that there was neither any risk of the destruction of evidence nor any risk of flight , and in light of his advanced age of 95 . As all relevant materials have already been secured through extensive searches and seizures, leaving no risk of the destruction of evidence or flight , it is deeply regrettable that the detention has nevertheless been maintained . In particular, subjecting a 95-year-old individual to detention during the investigation is an unduly harsh measure that threatens his life and health and seriously infringes upon his constitutional right to a defense. As the question of detention does not determ...

[Statement from Shincheonji Church of Jesus on the Issuance of a Detention Warrant for Chairman Lee Man-hee]

[Statement from Shincheonji Church of Jesus on the Issuance of a Detention Warrant for Chairman Lee Man-hee] Shincheonji Church of Jesus expresses deep regret regarding the court's 24 June decision to issue a detention warrant. Chairman Lee Man-hee and the church have maintained fixed addresses and have faithfully cooperated with the authorities at every stage of the investigation, including the searches and seizures.  Through repeated searches and seizures, relevant materials have already been secured, leaving no risk of the destruction of evidence, and given his advanced age of 95, there is likewise no risk of flight. Under these circumstances, the decision to impose detention is deeply regrettable in light of the principle of trial without detention under the Criminal Procedure Act. To detain a 95-year-old individual before the court has had the opportunity to determine the merits of the case is, in effect, imposing a form of physical punishment in advance. As Chairman Lee curre...

Statement by Shincheonji Church of Jesus

Statement by Shincheonji Church of Jesus We deeply regret the Prosecution-Police Joint Investigation Headquarters’ application for an arrest warrant against the Church’s Chairman, Mr. Lee Man-hee. Chairman Lee has acted responsibly by complying with every request from the authorities and has demonstrated good faith by cooperating fully throughout the investigation. Therefore, it is our deepest regret that a request for an arrest warrant has been filed against Mr. Lee, despite there being no risk of flight or evidence tampering. In particular, despite his advanced age of 95, Mr. Lee has consistently responded to the investigation with sincerity. This clear history of compliance points to the lack of necessity and the disproportionality of pretrial detention. Shincheonji Church of Jesus intends to present a thorough account of the relevant facts at the upcoming warrant review hearing, and we trust that the Court will render a wise judgment grounded solely in objective facts and legal me...

[2026-01-20] Statement

[Statement] The Joint Investigation Headquarters Must Conduct a Joint Inquiry by Cross-Referencing Party Membership Lists Politicians and certain media outlets must stop exploiting Shincheonji Church of Jesus for political contention. The Joint Investigation Headquarters must conduct an impartial investigation. Shincheonji Church of Jesus expresses deep concern regarding the proliferation of speculative reports based solely on the unilateral claims of expelled individuals. These reports involve allegations of “mass entry into the People Power Party,” “interference in the Presidential election,” and “interference in the General election.” We state clearly and unequivocally:  Shincheonji Church of Jesus has never instructed its members to join any political party, including the People Power Party or the Democratic Party of Korea, or to engage in political activities. Systematic election interference is neither structurally possible nor factually true. The church does not have the mea...

[2026-01-19] STATEMENT

STATEMENT The government has explicitly targeted a specific religious group, categorically labeling it a "social harm" and a "detriment" while mobilizing state power in a retaliatory manner. Such actions constitute a grave violation of Article 20 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, which guarantees the freedom of religion and the principle of the separation of church and state. The Shincheonji Church of Jesus expresses profound concern over this unilateral interference by state power and strongly urges the administration to uphold the principles of fair, restrained, and constitutional governance. On 12 January, President Lee Jae-myung stated during a meeting with religious leaders that "societal harm [caused by a specific religion] has been neglected for too long, resulting in great damage." This was followed on 13 January by Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, who, during a Cabinet meeting, utilized terms such as "cult" and "heresy"...

[2025-10-04] Who Will Be Saved: Those Who Know the Reality of the New Testament Revelation or Those Who Do Not?

Who Will Be Saved: Those Who Know the Reality of the New Testament Revelation or Those Who Do Not? As seen in New Testament Revelation 22, John saw and heard all the events of Revelation, and Jesus told him to go and testify what he had seen and heard to the churches (Rev 22:8, 16). Anyone who has neither seen nor heard the reality of Revelation, yet claims “this means that, that means this” according to their own interpretation, is a false pastor. Do they not understand this? In the time of the First Coming and now at the Second Coming, believers have always been deceived by the lies of false pastors while persecuting the true promised pastor in the Bible, who testify the truth calling them “heretics” or “of the devil.” Do those false pastors who label the true pastor and their testimony as heresy even have a conscience? In the past, the pastors of Judaism called Jesus a heretic at the First Coming. Today, the pastors of traditional Christianity are calling Shincheonji heretical. Then...

[Statement] Immediately Cease the Baseless Disparagement and Political Exploitation of Shincheonji Church of Jesus

[2025-12-04 Statement]  Immediately Cease the Baseless Disparagement and Political Exploitation of Shincheonji Church of Jesus  In recent political statements and debates, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has been unnecessarily mentioned. We find it deeply regrettable and express grave concern over the practice of using religious communities as material for political confrontation.  Shincheonji Church of Jesus is a religious organization. The church has not established any affiliations with particular political parties or groups, and will continue to uphold the principle of political neutrality. Nevertheless, the ongoing abuse of disparaging and speculative remarks about Shincheonji Church of Jesus is causing serious infringement on the human rights of its members.  The Constitution of the Republic of Korea guarantees the freedom of religion for all citizens, and no religious group should be unjustly stigmatized or exploited as an instrument for political strife. Expressi...

[0716] Statement Shincheonji Church of Jesus hereby clarifies the facts regarding the false claims and accusations about Shincheonji Church made by the speakers at a rally hosted by a group named Shincheonji Out Gwacheon-si Emergency Response Committee at Gwacheon City’s Central Park on July 12th, 2025. 1. Fact Checking Who Attended The Gwacheon Central Park gathering on July 12th is known to have mobilized around 800 people who associate with other church denominations located in Gwacheon that are against Shincheonji Church. 2. [STATEMENT] Politicians Must Stop Politically Exploiting Shincheonji Church of Jesus

[STATEMENT] Politicians Must Stop Politically Exploiting Shincheonji Church of Jesus Politicians must immediately cease their acts of politically exploiting Shincheonji Church of Jesus. In South Korea, every election season, the political establishment has used Shincheonji Church of Jesus as a tool for vote calculations. To gain votes from established denominations, they have made Shincheonji Church of Jesus a scapegoat and have attacked it according to political needs with each change of administration. Such behavior constitutes unconstitutional violence that directly violates religious freedom.  Particularly during the COVID-19 crisis, the government and Daegu City made Shincheonji Church of Jesus a scapegoat for their quarantine failures. They shifted all responsibility onto Shincheonji Church of Jesus and incited nationwide hatred. However, the judiciary rendered a "not guilty" verdict regarding violations of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, clearly reve...

Statement | Condemnation and Warning Regarding the Political Scheming to Fabricate a False Image of Political Connections with Shincheonji Church

Statement | Condemnation and Warning Regarding the Political Scheming to Fabricate a False Image of Political Connections with Shincheonji Church Shincheonji Church of Jesus condemns the recent acts of spreading unfounded false claims aimed at linking the church to a specific political group or candidate, orchestrated by political entities.  The church has no political ties to politicians or political parties and does not engage in any political activities. It is solely dedicated to the essence of religion, spreading the good news, and teaching the Bible, and it neither intends to nor involves itself in politics.  However, the ongoing scapegoating aimed at swaying voters, the schemes to create division within the religious community, and the incitement of deeper divides among the people have become unacceptable.  This goes beyond negative campaigning and constitutes a serious violation of the freedom of religion and the fundamental rights of individuals as outlined in the...

[Statement] Rally to Denounce Religious Persecution

[Statement] Rally to Denounce Religious Persecution  This action is a dismissal of the basic courtesy due to citizens who are the rightful sovereigns, and it seriously damages the national prestige of the Republic of Korea. How are we supposed to explain this to the religious leaders and graduates from various countries who entered Korea to attend this event? While Korea promotes the Korean Wave and emphasizes globalization, it is bringing international embarrassment upon itself through religious persecution.  While the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization claims “security threats” as the reason for cancellation, other events at the same venue proceeded normally. How can they still claim this was due to “security threats”?  Prior to the event, there were continuous complaints and protest rallies from Protestant churches, and on October 28th, a “Protest Rally to Cancel Shincheonji Event” was held. The very next day, we learned of the venue cancellation. Public officials and publi...
