[Statement] Immediately Cease the Baseless Disparagement and Political Exploitation of Shincheonji Church of Jesus
[2025-12-04 Statement]
Immediately Cease the Baseless Disparagement and Political Exploitation of Shincheonji Church of Jesus
In recent political statements and debates, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has been unnecessarily mentioned. We find it deeply regrettable and express grave concern over the practice of using religious communities as material for political confrontation.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus is a religious organization. The church has not established any affiliations with particular political parties or groups, and will continue to uphold the principle of political neutrality. Nevertheless, the ongoing abuse of disparaging and speculative remarks about Shincheonji Church of Jesus is causing serious infringement on the human rights of its members.
The Constitution of the Republic of Korea guarantees the freedom of religion for all citizens, and no religious group should be unjustly stigmatized or exploited as an instrument for political strife. Expressions that demean or distort a particular religion undermine religious diversity and the fundamental rights of citizens; thus, they cannot be justified under any circumstances.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus has no intention of intervening in political confrontations among politicians. We call for an immediate end to the unconstitutional and rights-violating practice of using the church as a scapegoat in political controversies.
If misleading slanders, false accusations, insults, or distorted remarks targeting Shincheonji Church of Jesus continue, we will pursue every available measure to safeguard the rights of the church and the members.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus will deepen its commitment to the public good through the essence of religion, biblical education, community service, and peace initiatives. We hope for a Korea where all religions are respected and coexist without discrimination.
4 December 2025
Members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus
