[2026-04-03] Similarities Between Jesus’ First Coming and Second Coming
The people of Israel promised that they would believe when the Messiah— the Savior (the promised shepherd) — whom God had promised through the Old Testament prophets, would come. However, when Jesus, the Savior, came at the time of the First Coming, they saw and heard him but did not believe. Instead, they persecuted him as a heretic and even hated him enough to put him to death. Why was this so? It was because the spirit within them was different. Therefore, Jesus told them that they must be born again of water and the Spirit (see John 3:3–5).
Jesus, who fulfilled all of the Old Testament, established the new covenant (the New Testament). The new covenant is the Book of Revelation, which contains the future events to be fulfilled at the Second Coming of the Lord. Today, at the time of the Second Coming, Jesus has come in spirit (spiritual body) and has chosen the promised shepherd (see Revelation chapters 1–3). Through this promised shepherd, he has fulfilled the Book of Revelation and commanded that what has been seen and heard at the scene of the events of Revelation be testified to the churches (Rv 22:8, 16). However, just as seen in Revelation chapter 11, the pastors of traditional churches and their congregations persecuted the promised shepherd as a heretic. Both at the First Coming and at the Second Coming, it appears to be a time when evil spirits and the Holy Spirit confront each other. Those who had been waiting so eagerly for the Spirit of truth whom Jesus promised to send (John 16:7) ended up hating even to the point of wanting to kill the promised shepherd who is with the Spirit of truth (see John 14:17, 26; 16:13). Is this not true? As seen in Revelation chapters 2–3 and 6, the Christian world (the traditional church world) became the world of Satan, and thus the Spirit of truth came to be persecuted.
At the time of Jesus’ first coming, Satan was at work, and God foretold through the Bible that Satan would also be at work at the Second Coming. Have we not seen the work of the Spirit of truth and the work of Satan? Surely we have. Just as at Jesus’ first coming, today also the Christian world has mobilized fully to persecute the promised shepherd who is with the Spirit of truth, calling him a heretic. Who has done this? The Christian world. The issue is not the church signboard, but the hearts of the pastors. Who is orthodox and who is heretical can be known if tested publicly according to the standard of the New Testament, Revelation. Why do they not respond to such a test?
The last days at the time of the Second Coming signify the end of the Christian world. This can be seen in Revelation chapters 6 and 7. In Revelation chapter 6, the chosen people who betrayed are judged and become the world of the devil, while the people in chapter 7 are those who are sealed by the work of God’s Spirit and recreated as God’s new nation and new people, the 12 tribes. Seeing today’s reality, we can know that now is the last days and the time of the fulfillment of prophecy. The time of prophetic fulfillment is when the Holy Spirit and evil spirits confront each other in battle. Both at Jesus’ first coming and at the present time of the Second Coming, when the Holy Spirit and evil spirits meet, there has been conflict. At both the First Coming and the present time of the Second Coming, the former world persecutes the new world, and they fight each other. The coming of the new era is the time when prophecy is fulfilled, and the works of the former era and the new era are different, causing them to become enemies.
In the new era, the promised new work is created. Today’s new era is the time of the fulfillment of the New Testament, Revelation. Then where is the refuge at this time? The refuge is within the New Testament, Revelation. At the time of the fulfillment of Revelation, there is a battle, and by fighting and overcoming the opposing dragon, the new work promised in Revelation—God’s new nation and new people—is created (see Rev. 12:10–11). Therefore, one must fight and overcome.
The similarity between Jesus’ first coming and second coming is that the corrupt former era passes away and a new era comes; it is the time when evil spirits and the Holy Spirit confront each other; and the people of the former era and the people of the new era become enemies and fight each other. By overcoming, the new nation and new people of the new era are created. It is the time of the fulfillment of Revelation and the time of the Second Coming. At this time, consider whether you have been created according to the New Testament, Revelation, based on the promised word. Do not rely on traditional churches. Today, because one era became corrupt, a new era has been created (Rv 6, 7). Do you still not know this? Shincheonji, according to the promised word of Revelation, is the newly created new heaven and new earth where the first heaven and the first earth have passed away (Rv 6–7; 21:1). When Revelation is completely fulfilled, the spiritual heaven and God will come here, and a world of eternal life without death or pain will be established (Rv 21:1–4). Amen.
