Shincheonji Uganda Church Holds 'Head-to-Head' Revelation Exam with Local Pastors
- 100 Shincheonji members and 100 local pastors take the exam
- Held to establish faith standards that neither add to nor subtract from Revelation
On September 27th, an “Open Bible Exam on the Book of Revelation” was held at the Global Hotel in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The exam was hosted and organized by the Thomas Tribe Uganda Church of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Head: Lim Woo-ri, hereinafter referred to as Shincheonji Uganda Church).
A total of 200 participants took the exam, consisting of 100 members from Shincheonji Uganda Church and 100 local Protestant pastors from Uganda. The exam comprised 100 questions and was conducted over a two-hour period.
Shincheonji Uganda Church explained the purpose of the event, stating, "This exam was not simply a competition. It was organized to distinguish between orthodoxy and heresy based on the words of Revelation, as proposed by Chairman Lee Man-hee."
Chairman Lee has consistently emphasized that "the Book of Revelation should be the standard of faith, and only through testing based on Revelation 22:18-19 can we distinguish between orthodoxy and heresy." One pastor who completed the exam shared his thoughts: "While I recognized Revelation as the compass of faith, I am most ashamed that I have not properly learned it. I will study again to broaden my understanding of prophecy and fulfillment." Another pastor stated, "I repent before God for having turned away from the words of Revelation or teaching them through arbitrary interpretation."
Martin Bakabulindi, a member of Shincheonji Uganda Church who participated in the exam, stated, "Unlike Shincheonji members, the participating pastors found the exam content difficult and were unable to write answers based on the Bible. Now that we have entered an era where even ordinary believers like me can easily understand and comprehend these teachings, I hope that knowledge of Revelation will become widespread and bring new changes to the entire Ugandan church community."
A representative from Shincheonji Uganda Church stated, "Understanding the reality of Revelation is the first step in guiding believers in the truth. We hope that more pastors will learn the Word and grow together in revival."
Following the exam, Shincheonji Uganda Church also signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for gospel exchange with seven churches in Uganda, formalizing Word-centered cooperation. In recent years, there has been an increasing number of cases where some denominations in the region have converted their affiliation to Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Meanwhile, Shincheonji Uganda Church, which started with just 27 members in 2015, has achieved remarkable growth with its current membership reaching approximately 8,400. Shincheonji Uganda Church announced that it will continue to expand open exams and seminars to promote theological exchanges with various denominations.
