[2026-07-27] [Official Statement] The Democratic Party of Korea's "Shincheonji National Convention Interference Theory" Is Not True

Shincheonji Church of Jesus expresses deep regret over the "Shincheonji interference theory" recently raised by candidate Kim Min-seok, who mentioned this denomination during the Democratic Party of Korea's party leadership election process, and clearly states that this is entirely untrue.

This denomination has no interest whatsoever in the national convention that elects the Democratic Party of Korea's party leader, and has not engaged in any act of interference. Claiming a "Shincheonji interference theory" merely because some Shincheonji members individually hold membership in the Democratic Party is a serious violation of the freedom of religion guaranteed by the Constitution.

The act of spreading unverified claims for the political purpose of a party leadership contest, and exploiting this denomination as a tool of political scheming, must stop immediately.

We express strong regret over the irresponsible political attack that damages this denomination's honor for the sake of one's own election victory, and over the act of disparaging Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has mastered the Bible, as a "cult."

This denomination hereby states that it will hold strict civil and criminal legal responsibility for false claims that differ from the facts.
